A unique offering...
This is a pair of Victorian ladies leather and canvas high top shoes that have been made into a decorative display item. They are filled with what must be plaster, for they are quite heavy. The shoes have 16 rows of eyelets. There is a stamp that is visible on one of the shoes identifying it as being made by Drew, Portsmouth, Ohio. 8 1/2" from heel to toe, 9 1/2" tall. I would say they are in excellent vintage condition. The leather might could use a polish and buff. No heel wear. The bow of one of the laces is missing. A new pair of leather laces might be nice to add. They are heavy, weighing almost 6#.
Drew Shoes still continue to be made. This is from their website: "Drew's history dates back to 1875 when Irving Drew, with only a few experienced shoemakers, started the business of hand making extra fine welt shoes for women along the Ohio River in Portsmouth, Ohio, giving birth to the Drew Shoe Corporation (FKA the Irving Drew Shoe Company)."
